“A cord of three strands is not quickly torn apart.
-Ecclesiastes 4:12
The Trinity is made up of three co equal Persons who are one is essence: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Christian marriage is designed to be an earthly, although admittedly imperfect, replica of the divine Trinity. It consists of three persons who are one: a man, a woman, and Jesus Christ.
It is Christ’s resurrection power of operating in the lives of a believing couple that gives them the ability to establish a loving marriage. Without Christ’s presence at the center of marriage, the other two people in the relationship are operating at a serious handicap.
But this incredible power is only available to people who have repented of their sin and trusted Christ as their Savior. Could it be that your marriage has not tasted of this power because one or the other of you, or perhaps both of you, have never received Christ as your Savior and Lord?
God sent His Son to earth to die on the cross as a substitute for your sin. Whenever men or women respond to Christ in faith, trusting Him alone as Savior, He not only forgives them but empowers them to live new lives. And when Christ makes you new, He includes your marriage in that new life.
Do you long for forgiveness, eternal life, and new power for daily living? You can have it if you believe Christ died for your sins, was buried and rose from the dead on the third day (see 1 Cor. 15:3-4). When you give Him your life, you will experience life to the full. And you will have the potential-and the power-to experience marriage as God planned it.
God made marriage, and He can make it work. We challenge you to commit yourselves to the Lord. Let Him save you from sin and give you new life. And then allow Him to remake your marriage.
Pray About it
Admit to God that you are a sinner, ask His forgiveness, and tell Him you want to trust Jesus alone for your salvation.
