“All things that I have heard from My Father I have made known to you.
– John 15:15
Have you ever thought about what is means when the Bible says, “We have the mind of Christ” (1 Cor. 2:16)? That is a staggering reality! This means, as Tony and the other theologians would say; that we have the ability to think God’s thoughts after Him. It means that we have the capacity to think about things the way Jesus Christ would think about them. Paul called it having the same attitude as Christ. (see Phil. 2:5).
Since we have the mind of Christ, we don’t have to think the way we used to think. We don’t have to see people the way we used to see them. And we don’t have to approach life with the same attitudes we used to exhibit. Think what would happen to our marriages if we would respond to our spouses with the mind and attitude of Christ. So much delicious spiritual fruit would begin to grow and mature in our lives that our relationship as a couple would take on a whole new flavor.
I know that even with the mind of Christ at our disposal, we are still very imperfect people who can easily lapse back into our old way of thinking and action. But the Scripture is clear about the resources available to us in Christ. Here are some ingredients you can begin using today to develop a Christlike mind and attitude:
- Meditate on God’s Word (Ps. 1:2-3).
- Seek God’s will (Matt. 26:39).
- Bear the burdens of others. (Gal.6:2).
- Resist the devil (Matt. 4:1-11, James 4:7).
- Learn to control your mental focus (Phil. 4:8).
- Be careful how you view life (Rom. 8:6).
- Look for God’s purpose in everything (Rom. 8:28).
- Seek His strength in your weakness (2 Cor. 12:9).

Think About it
When Christ’s mind dominates our minds, then we will be truly in our right minds!
