In times of discouragement it’s essential to speak life to yourself. Proverbs 18:21 tells us, “Words kill, words give life; they’re either poison or fruit—you choose” (The Message).
Words release life or death. Everything that comes out of your mouth is a seed that grows. Don’t speak what is contrary to what you believe. The surest way to keep something negative from taking root is not to speak it.
You’ll always have challenges, but speaking spiritual words of what God can do will enable you to walk in His strength and power, and walk in what He has done. However if you don’t speak life, what you speak will become Satan’s foothold (Ephesians 4:27). Satan aims to steal, destroy, and devour (1 Peter 5:8), God wants to give life (John 10:10)—you choose.
Sometimes you just have to encourage yourself. You have to speak victory during the test. No matter how you feel, even when depression is all around, you have to remember that God is your present help. Sometimes the enemy creates walls, but remember God is able to bring those walls down. Speak that truth over yourself today.
